Findhorn, Nairn and Lossie Rivers Trust

ABOUT US

The Findhorn, Nairn & Lossie Rivers Trust is a charity and a company limited by guarantee. It is managed by a Board of Trustees which meet four times per year.

The Trust works closely with the District Salmon Fishery Boards (DSFBs) of the Rivers Findhorn, Nairn and Lossie, who have statutory responsibilities for migrating salmonids of each river.

The Trust and DSFBs are separate organisations but work closely together, with the Trust providing administrative, management and scientific duties on behalf of the Findhorn and Lossie DSFBs.

FNLRT was established in 2008, initially as a Fisheries Trust, with the intention of complimenting the work of the local District Salmon Fisheries Boards (DSFB) and attracting charitable funding to support our rivers. The Trust subsequently changed its name to become a Rivers Trust in 2020, reflecting a broadening remit, and in 2021 published its 2021-26 Management Plan which included a new commitment to taking action for habitat restoration and climate mitigation across our three river catchments, in response to concern about the decline in wild Atlantic Salmon populations.
